Join us in celebrating the exciting Washington, DC
Week for the Animals in our nation's capital!

Washington, DC Week for the Animals kicks off again in 2024. COVID interrupted our annual celebrations. (Please note after DC Week, Washington, DC  we hand the baton off to the International Weeks for the Animals - United Kingdom Week for the Animals. And, Africa Weeks for the Animals then kicks off in August each year).

Community-building events are planned for the entire incredible DC week. Please see our Calendar of Events page for details on the  activities taking place across Washington and the DC Metro area during thisAnnual Washington, DC Week for the Animals.

Throughout the week humane organizations, shelters, rescue groups, educational agencies and non-profit organizations across the Metro area will be hosting fun-filled animal-related special events.

Educators, students, businesses and caring citizens throughout the District and across the entire Washington, DC metropolitan area will be joining in as well, celebrating and helping the animals.

Events include adoption fairs, low cost spay/neuter awareness events, low cost vaccinations, highlighting shelter events, programs in libraries, pet food drives for low income citizens, events for the farm animals and loving therapy dogs visiting hospitals, living-assisted homes and helping the military's wounded warriors.

Also included are a salute to our military K-9's and horses, police K9s, animal law event, musical concerts, special programs at sanctuaries, blessing for the animals, and fun-filled festival days for families to come and enjoy food, music and the amazing animals!

Join us. We encourage animal lovers everywhere in the area to participate! See the "Become Involved" page on this website for lots of great ideas on what you can do during this special week and everyday wherever you are to help the animals.

Visit the calendar page and please note we are adding events and activities   even through the week. Together we make Washington, DC Week for the Animals a joyful, history-making celebration! God Bless the District of Columbia!
